What is most remarkable about Bendis’ run is just how little Daredevil there actually is in it. It’s strange how these things work – Bendis was almost a one-off Daredevil writer. But, in a story related in an afterword collected here, Bendi explains that it was actually Alex Maleev who suggested that the two be granted stewardship of the title. He did a fill-in arc, Wake Up, after David Mack finished writing for the recently relaunched book. ![]() ![]() Bendis wasn’t meant to be a long-term writer for the book. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Saving Earth Britannica Presents Earth’s To-Do List for the 21st Century.100 Women Britannica celebrates the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment, highlighting suffragists and history-making politicians.COVID-19 Portal While this global health crisis continues to evolve, it can be useful to look to past pandemics to better understand how to respond today.Student Portal Britannica is the ultimate student resource for key school subjects like history, government, literature, and more. This Time in History In these videos, find out what happened this month (or any month!) in history.#WTFact Videos In #WTFact Britannica shares some of the most bizarre facts we can find.Demystified Videos In Demystified, Britannica has all the answers to your burning questions.Britannica Classics Check out these retro videos from Encyclopedia Britannica’s archives.Britannica Explains In these videos, Britannica explains a variety of topics and answers frequently asked questions. ![]() ![]() Social scientists, writes New Yorker correspondent and longtime China resident Hessler ( River Town, 2001), describe the 1990s as China’s true Industrial Revolution, a time when more than 100 million Chinese moved from the countryside to booming industrial cities along the southern coast, “the largest peaceful migration in human history.” The experience has been both dislocating and empowering, as China increasingly emerges as a major power economically and a geopolitical force-often squarely against the U.S. China is a country both ancient and brand-new-and, to judge by this revealing portrait, likely to be increasingly at odds with the U.S. ![]() ![]() ![]() The book is a way to share my experience as a slave – which is similar to the stories of tens of millions of victims worldwide today – to an even larger audience. and Nashville, to name a few of the cities. Takaki’s approach to history is highly comparative and inclusive, as he disrupts a “Master Narrative of American History” that largely focuses on the achievements of white Americans (4). Takaki’s main argument in A Different Mirror is that the United States, from its inception, has been a multicultural and diverse country, originally inhabited by Native Americans and by subsequent ethnic groups who have worked to advance the ideals of American democracy and its promise of “equality for all.” Takaki provocatively states that America was not settled and developed primarily by Europeans rather, it was built from the appropriated land and labor of Native Americans, African Americans, Mexican Americans, Irish Americans, Asian Americans, Jewish Americans, and many more ethnic immigrant groups. ![]() ![]() ![]() Much of what defines us was also in Neanderthals, and their DNA is still inside us. Beyond Order therefore calls on us to balance the two fundamental principles of reality - order and chaos - and reveals the profound meaning that can be found on the path that divides them. While an excess of chaos threatens us with uncertainty, an excess of order leads to a lack of curiosity and creative vitality. Now in this long-awaited sequel, Peterson goes further, showing that part of life's meaning comes from reaching out into the domain beyond what we know and adapting to an ever-transforming world.
